preliminary task

For our Preliminary task we had two jobs. One was to create a copy of a clip we watched, so using as similar shots, equipment, angles and similar editing as possible. The clip was a simple idea of a man walking down a long corridor, opening the door, walking to a desk and asking the other guy at the desk to borrow a DVD for him to watch with a small amount of dialogue.
The other task was to create our own very short clip and then direct and edit it. We had 3 hours to do it. This was just so that we had the opportunity to individually use all the equipment that we would need.
The two tasks help a lot as this gave us the chance to experience all the equipment and help us practice doing many difficult to set up shots.

Planning

For the last few days we have been looking at ideas and joining them together to create a opening few minutes of a thriller film. We started by writing down lots of ideas from the trip to Holland and many other inspirational ideas on a big sheet of paper and choosing the ideas we wanted to keep and putting them down one side of the sheet to create a draft time line.

Inspiration of our thriller

We have been inspired by a few ideas and experiences. The main influence to our thriller is from a school trip to Holland a couple of years ago. on this trip, we encountered many strange happenings for example strange movement of objects in the room. we also experienced an unusual situation with phones. We called our mate and even once he had hung up, the phone continued to ring and then someone else answered the call.
Other influences came from various films, including paranormal activity and the fourth kind. These films had many aspects within them which corresponded to what we had experienced.
